What Is Costa Rica Seed
Costa Rica Seeds has been running soybean winter projects since 1999 and started its cotton program in 2001 in Costa Rica, Central America. It is one of the fastest programs that can help to save time in your breeding program.
At this time, we have run 305 winter projects for 32 different clients including private companies and public institutions.
After five years and such many projects ran, plus the previous experience of our staff, we have achieved great experience and skills. We have the facilities and logistics to help you on the basic procedures of breeding.
Very close to the equator, Costa Rica has an average day length of 11.5 hours in December and 12.5 hours in July along with a fairly constant temperature which allows us to advance generations the year around. We can advance by single seed descent or strict single seed descent, as many generations as you want. Any amount of single plants can be harvested, also.
Take advantage of our crossing service. Just send us the list of crosses you want to be made, as well as the amount of seeds per cross you want back and you’ll get it.
The best way to send seed to Costa Rica is by courier as UPS, DHL or
FedEx. It normally takes just 2-3 days to reach us, sending the seed this way will save time and at the end of the season it could give us the chance to send you the seed with plenty of time and avoid paying some extra money.
Delivering small weights by air takes 5 days to reach you and containers sent by ship take just 12 days. Very small amounts of seed (under the 100 pds) will be shipped by UPS.
