What Is Costa Rica Seeds
Costa Rica Seeds has been running soybean winter projects since 1999 and started its cotton program in 2001 in Costa Rica, Central America. It is one of the fastest programs that can help to save time in your breeding program.
At this time, we have run 305 winter projects for 32 different clients including private companies and public institutions.

Costa Rica's Diverse Agroclimatic Zones
Costa Rica is divided in the Atlantic Zone and the Pacific Zone the mountain ranges which extend from the northwest to the southeast.
In general we could consider the Pacific Zone dryer and hotter, which is optimum for cotton and soybean first increases (our short season) and the Atlantic Zone shows higher precipitation and lower temperatures.
Alajuela
Just across from Juan Santa Maria Int. Airport our Administrative and Import-Export office surrounded by custom agencies is strategically located to make Import and Export works easier and faster.
Upala
Costa Rica Seeds has built office, warehouse and equipment to process your beans.
Land for farming is rented in this area. Located at the Atlantic, Northern Costa Rica just 50 minutes from Cañas, Upala has a strong bean culture, in the past 30 000 acres were planted of common beans.
Cañas
Cañas farm is located in the Pacific Region. This farm owned by our family, has 175 laser leveled acres, full irrigation available. It is currently planted with rice and sugar cane. Costa Rica Seeds has built facilities here for soybean and specially for cotton.
This location shows a decrease on precipitation after September when sprinkler or drip irrigation is needed. From December to May is perfect for harvesting.
